Cylocybe is down. Mycoscopy is up. What's going on?

The web is being rocked today from two massive PHP zero days which are being actively exploited.

As Cylocybe is hosted on PHP, we took the immediate decision to turn off the server until later on when security patches are released. We'll then need to inspect the logs and see if the site was broken into or not. Fingers crossed the hackers didn't have enough time to get to Cylocybe.

The NCSC website showing: Our website is temporarily unavailable. Due to vulnerabilities in PHP, we have temporarily taken the NCSC website offline as a precaution.
The Dutch National Cyber Security Centre also took its website offline today because of the PHP vulnerabilities.

Regarding this site, everything is safe. It doesn't use PHP and no data would have been available for hackers to steal even had they broken in.

If you didn't already know, the writing was on the wall for us and this kind of situation is the exact reason we even built mycoscopy.

This isn't a kind of "we told you so" post, there will be many hacks like this PHP2SHELL over the coming months and we're simply proactively reacting instead of accepting it. We're not saying it's impossible to hack this shop, but we have reduced the number of points of failure and we've thought about what hackers can even get access to or do if they were to break in.

Read our about page to see find out more about our setup and how it protects us and your data from a new wave of sophisticated attacks.

Pretty much every competitor of ours is running WordPress, which runs on PHP, meaning they are all complete sitting ducks right now - as in, if anyone wants to break in and steal their entire databases or plant malware to steal things like checkout skimmers to steal things like credit card details they can. It's that serious.

But, I repeat: this site is fine. Ordering here is safe. There aren't any grow kits up yet, but over the coming days and weeks we'll have more products you can buy.

Thanks,
Mycoscopy.uk
